Our Goal
To create a welcoming and safe environment where artists can freely discuss and critically analyze the work of the designated artist. This space is built on mutual respect, support, and the exchange of diverse perspectives—please be mindful and considerate of your fellow artists.
This space isn’t just about sharing your perspective—it’s also an opportunity to learn from others, and grow as an artist.
This group is open to everyone—whether you're in school, out of school, retired, brand new, feeling totally lost, or already showing in major galleries.
Let’s make the most of our time together!
How it works
Interested volunteer artists can sign up to be critiqued by using the physical sign up sheet at the Digs, or contacting Isaiah. He will reach out with introductory questions, and document you and your work to prepare for the session. Each artist gets 1 hour of critique, so it is not rushed and participants can spend time asking questions and discussing the work. Critiqued artists can request a cold read (no context or work description), give context to the project, or direct the audience to a specific area they would like feedback.
Community Expectations
Discriminatory language or behavior—including racist, sexist, or homophobic remarks—will not be tolerated. Anyone engaging in such rhetoric will be asked to leave. Discussions will be facilitated and mediated by our director. To ensure a fair and productive conversation, we ask that you respect their guidance. This may include: Waiting your turn to speak, Staying on topic, and Avoiding sidebar conversations.
For Artists Receiving Critique
Accept criticism with an open mind and respect the feedback given. Constructive critique is meant to help you grow. If there are specific aspects of your work that you’d like feedback on (e.g., concept, execution, composition, workflow, ideation), please specify this at the start of your presentation. Bring any necessary materials to help participants engage with your work effectively. This may include physical pieces, video recordings, photographs, or slideshows. Provide an artist statement to give context to your work and help guide the discussion. If you’d like to record your critique (via video or audio), please request this in advance so the director can coordinate accordingly.
